What we Are:

Watchmens Guild is a community of Practical Timepiece Enthusiasts.

We offer monthly meetups (currently across the Southeast CONUS) oriented towards the everyday individual who actively utilizes timepieces as an everyday tool and as an extension of the intentional use of time.

We strive to embody and inspire purpose beyond collecting alone through fellowship with likeminded men of strong moral values through our passion for timepieces and community.

Who we Are:

- Our personal roots are firmly grounded in Biblical Christian morals and values. Organizationally, we welcome all who hold themselves to a higher standard and reflect strong moral character.

Our Story:

Founded by two regular dudes, the genesis of the Watchmens Guild was developed over an impromptu road trip of primary founder, Hunter Wealot, visiting secondary founder, William Willer.

During this visit, Hunter introduced Will to the realm and community behind practical use tool watches.

The week after the trip;  Hunter was listening to an episode of the Gray Nato Podcast and had the epiphany to take action on an idea he had been sitting on for sometime. Creating a community group organization that prioritized in person meetups, provided a venue to share writeups/highlight articles, encouraged the values oriented perspective of watches over materialism, and who's membership identity and offerings were not focused on individual background or experience but open to ALL.

Upon Hunter kicking off the idea, he invited Will as the first member of the initial Facebook community group and they immediately started bouncing ideas and prospective goals for such off each other to the point that Will jumped in full on as a fellow founder and contributor.

The rest, is history...

Hunter Wealot:

Husband, Father, Prepared Protector, aspiring Homesteader, and a Pilgrim in Christ.
Professional Background consists of various venues within the firearms industry and blue collar trade work; currently in pursuit of career within software space and also produce content for education and training company “Trained Hands” (media, written resources, and in person foundational training tbd).
Hunter highly prioritizes personal training. Focusing on performance and practical concealed handgun, functional fitness, minimal rifle/kit with a modern minuteman focus, and minimal milsim for force on force and SUT (strive to add BJJ in the near future).
Hunter has always had an affinity with practical everyday tools and equipment.
Started out his conscientious watch journey with a Gshock traded to him by a childhood best friend who was active duty Army stationed in South Korea.
Wore throughout my now wife and I’s dating years and upgraded to a Garmin Instinct our first Christmas right after wedding.
At a past job in the firearms industry; he began to gain interest from coworkers wearing traditional tool watches (Sangins and Stirlings). Began research considering Winfield Watches as was drawn to the vintage/WWII era homage field watches for a first piece. Landed on Hamilton and finalized on his Khaki Field Titanium (have post going more in depth).
For him; watches embody heritage, history, and a constant reminder of the most precious commodity of TIME.
Long term the goal of his collection is significance over quantity for quantities sake. If that physical number is large in time that is fine, but each piece must hold its value in quality, practical tool usage, heritage, as an heirloom, or personal significance.
Overall; his goal in this space is to further develop community with like minded men of strong character and sharpen iron with brothers in Christ.

Personal Collection (January 2025)

  • Breitling: Aerospace - E65062; 1996-98 Reference

Hunter's first grail acquisition. For him, the Aerospace serves as the perfect everyday life practical use timepiece. One that is backed as a historic icon in both brand and model, functionally capable in all practical manners, aesthetically rugged in design while equally beautiful in craftsmanship (absolutely love the blue dial, patina'd induces, and brushed titanium case/bracelet), and finally luxurious in quality completely capable as an heirloom. For him, this watch fills a role where in all reality he doesn't need any other watch (but we all know how that goes). Whether office, field, or black tie; it is and shall long term be a primary go to for him. In wear, it primarily Resides on Bracelet. Also rotates between Soturi Diplomat in RG and WOE Glomar in RG.

  • Hamilton: Khaki Field Titanium - H70545550

Hunter's first mechanical/analog timepiece. Attained as a modern variant of a WWII field watch homage. This piece was decided on as the first for it's attainability, historical brand legacy, and practicality as the most basic of timepiece types as a field watch. It represents the genesis of Hunter's friendship with Micah of RWacthCo and with such being the first timepiece Hunter ever assembled underneath the apprenticeship of Micah. Primarily has resided on WOE Glomar in Gray. Soon to reside on RWatchCo Milanese Steel Bracelet.

  • Stirling Timepieces: Upham

The Stirling Upham was the second mechanical watch Hunter ever purchased. • WESN Watches: Roamer - Alpine

The Roamer Alpine by WESN holds significance in Hunter's collection as the only 'homage' styled watch whose intent was to homage a piece that Hunter still intends to attain someday (his Holy Grail, the Rolex Explorer II 226570). This particular piece as a homage

  • Garmin Instict: Gen One

This Garmin Instinct was Hunter's second owned watch in his adult life and even now still his most worn timepiece (having worn daily for all occasions between blue collar to office work and yes even black tie affairs). Practically speaking, it was and is a fantastic piece offering the modern capabilities of a smart watch while negating the fragility (and unsightliness, sorry not sorry) of an apple watch. This watch while, outdated at this point, will maintain its slot in his collection even when it eventually dies as the milestone it represents along with its additionally aspects of significance including being the watch worn at his firstborn daughters birth. It is primarily dedicated to an AWWC Decon II rubber strap.

Grails

  • Rolex: Explorer - 14270 (Specifically a 1999 produced reference)

The Rolex Explorer in this particular reference will be the first significant grail for Hunter that's whole purpose is to be an heirloom. When attained, he intends for this watch to represent a significant life achievement (likely career oriented) and to be passed down to his eldest daughter (likely upon her 18th birthday or some other significant milestone so that he can see her utilize and enjoy this heirloom within his own lifetime).

  • Tudor: FXD GMT

Tudor as a whole is a brand that even without an exact watch narrowed down Hunter has known from the very start was an undeniable grail. All that the brand stands for and is represents all that he appreciates in the practical timepiece space (Breitling coming in as a close second). The FXD GMT embodies exactly what Tudor as a brand is for Hunter; a hard use tool watch with deep history, luxury craftsmanship and engineering, and the capability to withstand any level of abuse that can be thrown at it. Originally, Hunter debated on the black dial originally - but at its release Hunter immediately went from practically appreciating the piece to aesthetically loving it as well. His intent with this piece is to be the watch that lives through every hard use adventure or labor he ever decides to partake.

  • Rolex: Explorer II - 226570

For Hunter, the EII 226570 represents his 'Holy Grail'. The watch to end all other watches. The grail that is prospectively attainable someday, but there is much work to be done to achieve this goal for it to mark it's significance in having earned such. This piece is likely to be the only luxury watch he almost with certainty goes the full Authorized Dealer path and prospectively attains brand new. There is no short path to this, it's entire purpose is the long haul. When the time is right, it will be attained...

Catching my Eye (January 2025)
  • King Seiko or Grand Seiko vintage high beat

Don't have a particular reference in mind here. Deciding factors is being a high beat from the 1960s era of Seiko competing with the Swiss manufacturing world (great history if you're unfamiliar), iconic sword styled hands and distinguished case shape luxury Seiko (modern Grand Seiko especially) is known for, coin inlayed caseback, and original dial. The goal here is a sub $1k dress watch with some historical and technological significance.

  • Grand Seiko SBGA413 Spring Drive "Cherry Blossom"
The Cherry Blossom Grand Seiko is just shy of the grail list. But, with the grail list being more practically oriented, the GS just barely misses the primary grails BUT I would consider it a grail dress watch in its own right. The draw to the Grand Seiko Cherry Blossom is the historical heritage of the brand along with its place of origin, the beauty and extreme attention to detail in attainable craftsmanship, the incredible offering in technology of the spring drive movement, and the absolutely gorgeous petaled textured subtly pink dial which for himself holds significance with his hometown being one of the few places in the world aside from Japan that has a numbered population of Cherry Blossom trees. The aspiration here is to prospectively someday obtain in person on a trip to Japan.

Sir William Willer:

William Willer is a Christ follower, husband, father, filmmaker, musician, gun enthusiast, and now, a watch aficionado and co-admin of his group. Over the past eight years working on film sets, keeping track of time has been essential in the hectic world of filmmaking, where staying punctual without constantly checking a phone is a challenge. Growing up, William always admired watches, inspired by his father's Casio Wave Ceptor diver, which his father still wears today. He values the memories, history, and practicality that timepieces represent.

His Craft
A storyteller at heart, William grew up surrounded by great stories and books, which fueled his passion for filmmaking at a young age. Being homeschooled gave him the opportunity to pursue his creative calling, and he's been working on film sets since the age of 15. He has gained experience in almost every department of film, learning from talented mentors and teachers, especially in the art of screenwriting. Currently, he serves as the Creative Director at Cinema Story Productions, where he creates commercial and corporate films, while also pursuing his personal film projects.

The (Very Small) Collection
William appreciates the practicality, history, and design of watches. He’s fascinated by the balance between functionality, mechanics, and aesthetic beauty. As a self-proclaimed history and film nerd, his goal is to integrate these interests into his collection—someday, when the budget allows. His first watch purchase was an Invicta Pro Diver. While it may not be a collector's dream, it holds sentimental value as the watch he wore at his wedding and one that’s survived four years of wear, including a scuffed crystal from a film set accident.

After that incident, William picked up a G-Shock 5600e, a legendary watch that became his daily companion for three years, handling the rough demands of set life. His most recent acquisition is the Casio A168WA-1, a quirky, retro piece with an 80s aesthetic. Though it’s great for the office, its shiny chrome exterior often makes it impractical for film sets.

Grails:
Will’s watch aspirations focus on making a tight, practical collection that also has historical and sentimental significance. Instead of getting a ton of cheaper watches to fulfill the urge of consumption, he want to focus on a few categories of use that allow for him to have a variety of aesthetics he enjoys.

The everyday watch goal is the Tudor Ranger 39mm. Just a no nonsense tool watch with plenty of heritage from the brand. It can be dressed up or down, at home where ever. For a diver, the Tudor Black Bay 58 925. Will wears silver rings, one his wedding band, and the other a gift from his wife. The sterling silver case and grey dial combined with the vintage diver look just gets his gears going. For a field watch, he wants to find an old school canteen crown style watch to remember his grandpa’s days of service in the 1950s Marine Force Recon units, where he executed submarine launched free diving maneuvers with that very style of watch.

And Finally, one day Will would love to pick up a classy dress watch like the Cartier Santos. With the aviation heritage and old world design, it would be a really great piece for when things get a little more fancy than usual.
